Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide Directly

• Account information: Name, email address, password
• Financial data: Expense details, income information, tax-related documents
• Receipts: Photos of receipts captured via camera or uploaded from photo library
• Trip/mileage data: Trip start and end locations, distance travelled, purpose of trip

b) Information Collected Automatically

• Location data: GPS coordinates for mileage/trip tracking (only when the feature is actively in use)
• Device information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Usage data: App interaction patterns, feature usage, session duration
• Crash logs and diagnostics: For app stability and performance improvement

c) Information from Third-Party Services

Banking data via Plaid: Bank account names, transaction history, account balances. We use Plaid Inc. to securely connect to your financial institutions. We do not store your bank login credentials. Plaid's own privacy policy governs their data handling: https://plaid.com/legal/

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain the App's core functionality (expense tracking, mileage logging, tax reporting)
• To sync and categorize your bank transactions for expense management
• To generate tax reports and financial summaries
• To improve App performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
• To comply with legal obligations

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Plaid Inc. — To connect your bank accounts and retrieve transaction data
• Legal requirements — When required by law, court order, or governmental authority

Data Storage & Security

• All data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL)
• Sensitive financial data is encrypted at rest on our servers
• Bank credentials are never stored by our application — Plaid handles authentication directly
• We implement access controls to limit data access to authorized personnel only
• Data is stored on secure cloud servers with regular security audits

Location Data

We collect location data only when you actively use the mileage/trip tracking feature. Location tracking can be disabled at any time through your device settings. We do not track your location in the background unless the trip tracking feature is actively running and you have granted permission.

Camera & Photo Library Access

We request camera and photo library access solely for the purpose of capturing or uploading receipt images. Photos taken within the App are used exclusively for expense documentation and are not shared with third parties.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored in the App
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Delete your account and all associated data from within the App
• Export your financial data and reports
• Withdraw consent for optional data collection (e.g., location tracking) at any time through device settings
• Disconnect linked bank accounts at any time from within the App

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
